What is tinker Coder?
This programme is a course for students to further explore block-based A.I. and coding through unique and creative game-based learning.

Using Scratch, Pictoblox, Machine Learning for Kids and Microsoft’s Minecraft Education, your child will get to experiment with Artificial Intelligence (A.I.) and coding through inquiry-based and project-based learning. Furthermore, students learn in an immersive environment which incentivises them to try various approaches to solve challenges presented to them.
The visual programming languages used will also serve as an introduction to other platforms that build on the same style of programming, like Microsoft MakeCode and LEGO® SPIKE™.
Course Structure

Scratch is a block-based visual programming language and website allowing students to mix together different media (including graphics, sound, and other programs) in creative ways by creating and ‘remixing’ projects, like video games, animations, music, and simulations.

Scratch and its underlying visual programming language is also used as the basis for other popular coding and robotics platforms like Microsoft MakeCode and LEGO® SPIKE™.

Level 1 – Develop simple to moderate animation projects using block-based coding

Level 2 – Design simple to moderate games utilising functional blocks
Minecraft Education is a game-based platform that inspires creative, inclusive learning through play where students can explore blocky words that unlock new ways to take on any subject or challenge.

Level 3 – In-depth block-based coding using the Code Builder to program virtual characters to perform tasks in an immersive environment

Level 4 – Through project-based learning, learn coding logic like loops, ‘if/else’, conditionals and more
​
Level 5 – Make use of functions and variables to create your own coding scripts, building confidence and self-expression
​
Level 6 – Application and refinement of coding competencies through challenging projects
